About the sound

Headphones recommended

Strings, woodwinds and brass together · Direction and distance change with your seat.

Direct sound is combined with early reflections and reverberation. Their proportions change with the seat. This is a synthesis based on assumptions, not a recording of the actual hall.

Acoustic sources and model scope

Statistical model · Not measured

Ensemble listening estimates direct sound from five equally loud representative instruments plus early and late reflected energy. It does not trace individual wall reflections or measure sound on site. Playback uses the same energy model, but the samples' instrumentation and volume differ from the equal-strength scoring assumption. Changing a sample does not change the recommendation criteria.

Reverberation time used
1.53s Midpoint of the operator’s adjustable 1.2–1.85 s range
Room volume used
23,850m³ Estimated from the 3D enclosure · Actual volume unconfirmed

We also check score variation under nine assumptions: reverberation time ±0.4 seconds and volume ±20%. Balcony obstruction, reflector placement, and instrument directivity are not included. Scores cannot rank sound quality across venues.

84pts
Clarity–reverberation balance 45%100
Instrument delivery balance 35%97
Sound energy adequacy 20%89

Lowest component: Sound energy adequacy, 89 pts. Weaker components influence the combined score; scenarios range from 75 to 99 pts.

Scores rise when all three criteria are met together. Weights indicate importance; weaker components have more influence on the combined score.

Ensemble estimate: 75–99 pts

These are nine calculations with different assumed reverberation times and room volumes. Actual quality is not guaranteed to fall within this range, and a few points do not establish which seat is better.

Clarity–reverberation ratio (C80)
2.0 dB
Sound strength (G)
1.9 dB

These values come from a statistical model, not measurements. C80 is assessed against a chosen balance range rather than rewarding higher values; G is assessed for sufficient strength. View calculation criteria

Ensemble listening uses assumed direct sound, early reflections, and late reverberation. Direct-sound preference is distance-based; view scores use distance, overview, and alignment. Reflectors, balcony obstruction, and instrument directivity are not modeled, so rear-seat acoustics may also be overestimated. How to read the scores

Comparing seats at LG Arts Center Seoul LG SIGNATURE Hall

Compare stage views and strings, bass or full orchestra sound in A/B. Ensemble listening scores are acoustic model estimates, not on-site measurements. Rows and seat numbers follow the official seating plan. OP seats are rows 1–5 of the 1F OP section, and balcony box seats carry numbers only. 2F and 3F seat positions are estimates from the seating plan fitted to the section.

What sources confirm — From the full plan (CAD) that the operator publishes as stage technical data for LG SIGNATURE Hall, we read the positions of all 742 1F chairs, including the OP seats, and from the full section (CAD) in the same set every row's floor height (1F rows OP1–22: −0.30→2.96 m; 2F, 8 rows: 6.22→8.95 m; 3F, 8 rows: 11.11→14.89 m). Rows and seat numbers follow the official seating plan and match the seat names at all 50 of the operator's seat-view photo points. 2F and 3F seats are converted from the seat cells of the official seating plan, fitted to the row positions in the section. The stage floor at +0.70 m (relative to 1F row 1), rows OP1–OP3 at −0.30 m, the 19 m stage depth and the balcony-front parapet heights come from the official drawings and stage technical data.

What remains estimated — No CAD plan is published for 2F and 3F, so the seating-plan drawing was placed onto the center-axis row positions of the section. Compared with the CAD on 1F, the same drawing is off by 0.12 m on average and by up to 0.6 m in the rear side blocks, and the 2F balcony box seats differ from the section by about 0.9 m, so the section values were used for them. Expect errors of around 1 m at the side ends of 2F and 3F. Floor heights for the side blocks of 1F row 22, row 23 and the 1F balcony boxes do not appear directly in the section and are estimated. The proscenium is adjustable (12–20 m wide, 8–12 m high) and is drawn at its maximum; walls and ceiling are modeled, and the players are an example layout on stage.

Views are calculated using a 1.75 m figure, your chosen eye height and seat coordinates. Actual obstructions from people, railings or equipment and show-specific layouts may not be represented. Orchestral sound combines direction, distance and assumed early reflections and reverberation. It does not use responses measured in the actual hall. Scores indicate preference fit; actual obstructions, sound quality and price are not yet included.

Orchestral audio: original samples made from VSCO 2 CE recordings (Versilian Studios, CC0). Band and game sounds are synthesized. Crowd audio uses Sandermotions’ CC0 recordings, not recordings from this venue.
